CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS
Although Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year because we can celebrate the birth of Jesus, it's also a time that is sad for many families. Through this ministry, I try to make the holiday season a bit brighter with a variety of activities.
During the Christmas season, we enjoy parties together almost every weekend. We make crafts to hang on our tree in the lobby and presents that children can give to their parents. We also let the children choose a few toys to keep in their rooms.
One of the ways that children receive gifts is when members of the community take names from the angel tree. Each child's size of clothes and shoes is listed as well as something they want and something they need. From the Statesville Police Department to area churches and businesses, children receive a stocking filled with treats and all kinds of gifts to unwrap on Christmas morning.
